Regional Programme Assistant.
Job Summary
The Regional Programme Assistant supports the development of the Save the Children Sweden
(SCS) ECAf regional strategic plan for 2009-2012 by providing support to the programme team
in the implementation and monitoring of the regional thematic programme plans (TPPs).

The Regional Programme Manager
Stationed in
Regional Office, Nairobi, Kenya
Areas of Responsibility
• Supports the elaboration of internal and external programme reports;
• Supports the programme team in monitoring partner and consultancy agreements;
• Supports the programme team in organizing regional workshops and events;
• Supports the implementation of the seven regional thematic programmes’ monitoring and
evaluation plans.
Main Tasks
• Collecting information and data required by programme staff needed for the elaboration of
all programme reports;

• Supporting the proper filing of programme and project documentation under the
supervision of programme staff;
• Monitoring the internal SCS calendar to ensure timely follow-up of regional partners and
consultants for the delivery of expected products and reports;
• Revising partner narrative and financial reports, checking for consistency and compliance
with terms of SCS agreements, under the supervision of programme staff;
• Accompanying regional programme staff in monitoring visits to partner organizations,
when required;
• Supporting the organization of programme-related events in liaising with participants and
guests, drafting communications, organizing support materials and logistic aspects;
• Supporting the programme team in ensuring that the TPP monitoring and evaluation plans
are being carried out according to planned;
• Collecting external and internal data required by the regional TPP monitoring and
evaluation plans, under the supervision of programme staff;
• Attending regional programme events or meetings when required by the programme team;
• Taking minutes of partner and programme meetings when required by programme staff.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field from a recognised University.
Diploma holders with at least five years experience will also be considered.
• Two years of relevant experience in the development field. Experience of working for an
international NGO is an advantage.
• Excellent fluency in English, especially in writing. Working knowledge of any other
African Union language shall be considered an asset.
• Good communications, drafting and inter-personal skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Must be self-driven, proactive and highly
organized, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Availability to travel in the region.
